Why this matters

Being able to describe someone's personality is one of the most common communication tasks — job interviews, first dates, talking about friends, gossip (we all do it). A1 gave you simple adjectives like sympa and gentil. Today you get the vocabulary to be genuinely expressive and nuanced about character.

How Adjectives Work with Personality

Personality adjectives follow the noun (unlike physical adjectives, which can go before or after):

• Il est généreux. / C'est un homme généreux.
• Elle est ambitieuse. / C'est une femme ambitieuse.

Remember: Adjectives agree in gender and number with the noun they describe.

Common patterns:

• -eux → -euse (courageux/courageuse)
• -if → -ive (créatif/créative)
• -el → -elle (exceptionnel/exceptionnelle)
• Many adjectives are identical for m/f: sympa, drôle, timide, calme, honnête
