The French‑language draw in numbers
IRCC announced a dedicated draw for French‑speaking workers on Oct. 16, 2026. The draw issued 5,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence through Express Entry. To qualify, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 435.
Why French matters in the CRS
The Comprehensive Ranking System awards extra points for language proficiency. For French, candidates can earn up to 30 points for CLB 9 or higher, plus additional points when combined with English proficiency (the “dual‑language bonus”). This can be the difference between sitting in the pool and receiving an ITA.
