The Update (June 26, 2026)
Ontario announced major OINP restructuring. All 8 existing streams → CLOSED. New single stream → LAUNCHING summer 2026.
What Changed
OLD OINP (Closed June 26):
- Employer Job Offer Stream
- International Mobility Program
- French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
- Master's Graduate Stream
- PhD Graduate Stream
- + 3 others
NEW OINP (Summer 2026+):
- Ontario Workforce Priority Stream (2 pathways: TEER 0-3, TEER 4-5)
- Self-Employed Physicians Option
Why This Matters
- ✅ Simpler: 1 stream instead of 8 = faster processing
- ✅ More unified: Same criteria for most applicants
- ❌ More restrictive: CLB 6 minimum (was CLB 5 for some)
- ❌ Work experience required: No nomination without Ontario job history
New Requirements
TEER 0-3 (Skilled):
- 6 months consecutive Ontario work (in nominated job)
- CLB 6+ English
- Post-secondary degree
TEER 4-5 (Other Workers):
- 9 months cumulative in last 2 years
- CLB 4+ English
- Canadian secondary diploma
Timeline
June 26: Old system closes
Summer 2026: New e-filing portal opens
August+ 2026: Accepting applications
Bottom Line
Ontario OINP just got a major facelift. If you're in Ontario with an employer willing to nominate you, wait for the new portal opening summer 2026. Work experience + CLB 6 English = solid shot at nomination.
