What Is CRS Score?

CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) is Express Entry's algorithm. It ranks all applicants 0-1,200 points. IRCC invites the top scorers to apply for permanent residence.

2026 Context: French-exclusive draws invite at CRS 400. General draws invite at CRS 520+. French gives you 120+ point advantage.

CRS Scoring Breakdown

Part A: Core Human Capital (500-600 points max)

Factor Max Points How It's Scored
Age 132 Max at age 20-29; decreases after 29
Education 150 Bachelor's = 120 pts, Master's = 140 pts, PhD = 150 pts
Language (English) 136 CLB 9+ = 136 pts, CLB 8 = 129, CLB 7 = 120, CLB 6 = 110
Work Experience 80 1 yr = 15 pts, 2 yrs = 25, 3+ yrs = 80

Part B: Spouse/Partner (Max 40 points)

If you have a spouse with education/language:

  • Language proficiency: 0-20 pts
  • Education: 0-20 pts

Part C: Skill Transferability (Max 100 points)

Bonus points for combinations like education + language or work + language

Part D: FRENCH BONUS (Game Changer)

  • +25 CRS: NCLC 7 French + CLB 4 English
  • +50 CRS: NCLC 7 French + CLB 5+ English (THIS IS THE EDGE)

Part E: Provincial Nomination (Huge Boost)

  • +600 CRS: This is an auto-invite in next draw

  • CLB 4: 0 pts
  • CLB 5: 110 pts

Step 4: Calculate Work Experience Points

  • Less than 1 year: 0 pts
  • 1 year: 15 pts
  • 2 years: 25 pts
  • 3+ years: 80 pts

Step 5: Add French Bonus (If Applicable)

  • NCLC 7 French + CLB 4 English: +25 CRS
  • NCLC 7 French + CLB 5+ English: +50 CRS (BEST)

Total: 522 CRS (would GET INVITED in French draw at CRS 400!)
